Managing Director of National Iranian Oil Products Distribution Company (NIOPDC) said on Saturday no request has been received from Royal Dutch Shell or Total oil company for construction of gas stations in Iran, nor have any talks been made in that respect.

Seyyed Nasser Hejazi made the comments in an interview with IRNA in reaction to some Western media's broadcast news on issuance of permits by the National Iranian Oil Company (NIOC) for construction of 200 gas stations throughout Iran for Shell and Total companies.

That is while the spokesman of the NIOPDC, too, said that any Iranian or foreign company intending to construct gas stations in Iran must contact the NIOPDC to obtain the permit to do so and that no such request has yet been registered in that company.

Davood Arab-Ali said that some Iranian foundations might have negotiated with foreign companies, but even if agreements with them have been made, the issuance of the permit to do so is up to the NIOPDC, which is the sole organization in charge of the matter.

'If we will receive such requests and there will be no legal obstacles in the way, the required permit will be issued,' said Arab-Ali.
