Muscat - The Ministry of Transport and Communications announced on Sunday that 86 per cent of the third package (the passenger terminal) of the new Muscat International Airport has been completed so far. Once completed the new airport, will have an annual handling capacity of 12 million passengers expandable to 48 million passengers in the latter stages. With a total space of 580,000 sq m, the passenger terminal comprises 3-level three symmetrical wings attached to a 5-level central area with three main gates and VIP lounges. The passenger terminal has 118 check-in counters and 82 passport control desks for immigration clearance procedures by the Royal Oman Police officers.
