Scholarships and grants awarded to high calibre students

Dubai, UAE 29 July 2015: Murdoch University Dubai has earned a reputation as one of the top universities in Dubai and its generous scholarships are giving students another reason to study there.

"Murdoch Dubai is proud to be awarding over 4 million Dirhams worth of scholarships and grants for the 2015-2016 academic year," said Dan Adkins, Academic Director of Murdoch University Dubai & Chief Operating Officer of Global Institute Middle East. "Scholarships are awarded to incoming students who have excelled at academics, sports, and community service during their prior studies."

Murdoch University places emphasis on excellence in both teaching and research. Maria D'Costa, a Vice Chancellor's Award for Academic Excellence winning third-year IT student, has made the most out of a Murdoch scholarship. "Murdoch University Dubai has provided me with tremendous opportunities not only by allowing me to earn an internationally accredited double degree in IT but also providing me with a 100% scholarship," she said.

The University, which has had a history of organic growth since its inception in 2008, is hoping to attract top students to complement its strong academic programs by offering 200 scholarships that will range from 5,000 to 50,000 AED.

Scholarship recipient Mohammed Akram Suhaib will be joining Murdoch University Dubai this September where he will be studying Marketing and Finance. "I chose Murdoch because I felt happy with the double major opportunity that the University had to offer," he said.

Shahara Jafar, a second-year IT student, said the day she received a scholarship from Murdoch University Dubai was a turning point in her life.  "Murdoch University Dubai gave me the opportunity to build my dreams," she said. "I wouldn't have been able to attend University, if Murdoch hadn't surprised me with a scholarship; so that day was truly the happiest day of my life."

Murdoch University, based in Perth, Western Australia, will be expanding its Dubai campus this summer and is expecting over 900 students in September. The expanded campus will be able to accommodate up to 1800 undergraduate and postgraduate students. Murdoch University Dubai offers degrees in Business, IT, Education and Media.
