Dubai, United Arab Emirates: Arab Publisher held its launch event of the premiere publication of 'Forbes Middle East' last night at Atlantis, the Palm The magazine, which is in Arabic, is licensed by 'Forbes US' and will cover business related topics that affect the MENA region.
The ceremony was attended by Dr. Nasser Al Tayyar, President of Arab Publisher House, Robert Forbes, Vice President of 'Forbes' and Tom Wolf, Forbes Senior Adviser, International. In addition, a large number of editors in chief from leading Arab newspapers were invited as well as 200 chairmen and CEOs of companies in the public and private sectors from the UAE and other Arab countries
Dr. Nasser Al Tayyar, President Arab Publisher House said "It is a great honor for me to announce this new partnership between Arab Publisher House and Forbes Media. The evening began with a video message from Steve Forbes, President of Forbes in which he told guests that "I am excited to be partnering Arab Publisher House, which was chosen from 20 publishers who submitted a bid for the license. We have the utmost respect for the dedication of Dr. Nasser Al Tayyar, the publisher and Khuloud Al Omian the editor in chief. We have worked with Khuloud Al Omian before and we know very well her perfectionism, always setting the bar higher and higher and that is the spirit she has imparted to a multinational team. Together they will make Forbes Middle East a success and with our success the region and you personally will enjoy success as well."

The highlight of the evening was the announcement of the Top 50 Newspapers Online for 2010 in the MENA Region. In which Dr. Nasser Al Tayyar and Robert Forbes presented an award to the top 10 Newspapers Online in the MENA Region. This ranking was the very first of its kind for the region.
The top ranked newspaper online was Al Youm Al Sabea from Egypt and was graciously accepted by Dr. Walid Mustafa, Chairman Al Youm Sabea. Other winners included Al Watan, ranked 1st in Kuwait, Ech-Chourouk, ranked 1st in Algeria, Al Riyadh, ranked 1st in Saudi Arabia, Gulf News, ranked 1st in United Arab Emirates, Al Ghad, ranked 1st in Jordan, Al Ahkbar ranked 1st in Lebanon, Al Nahar, ranked 2nd in Lebanon and Al Wasat, ranked 1st in Bahrain.
Forbes Middle East compiled this list according to the Forbes methodology of scientific research. Forbes has always highlighted the importance of the role that media play in raising awareness and educating communities in economic and social development. Forbes Middle East has closely monitored the achievements of Arab, English and French newspapers published throughout the MENA region and their transition to digital media. This is measured by the presence of these newspapers online, their content and the online following that they generate.
A special award was also given to Dubai Media City, TECOM to honor their efforts in media and Mr. Mohammed Abdullah, Managing Director Media Cluster for TECOM Investments collected the award on behalf of TECOM.
Forbes Middle East is headquartered in Dubai Media City. The magazines debut edition is in Arabic and will be followed in a few months by an accompanying website. The English-language edition, also accompanied by a website, will appear in 2011.
Arab Publisher House is a newly formed joint venture of influential Arab investors; it plans to bring to the region a number of other Forbes publications, as well as other magazines.
