· Dubai's tourism industry beckons young local talent with exciting job opportunities

· 81 % of Dubai Tourism employees are Emirati nationals

Dubai, UAE - Dubai's Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing (Dubai Tourism) is earmarking Careers UAE 2016 to drive forward its continuing efforts to develop future tourism leaders from among the current generation of young UAE nationals.

As the country's leading job and training exhibition focussed on empowering UAE nationals, Dubai Tourism will use the showpiece event to highlight a number of its key Emiratisation initiatives. This builds on the organisation's on-going recruitment and training programme successes, with UAE nationals currently making up 81% of its workforce, holding responsibilities across diverse interests in the tourism sector.

H.E. Helal Saeed Almarri, Director-General, Dubai Tourism, said: "We are committed to attracting, nurturing and training young Emiratis based on the directive of our leadership to ensure our talented youth have access to the best jobs in numerous sectors. We recognise the value of the next generation of UAE nationals, and with the emirate expected to attract 20 million visitors by 2020 in line with Dubai's Tourism Vision, there is huge demand for qualified Emirati nationals in the industry. Our strategy this year is to further enhance efforts to recruit and develop these future ambassadors for Dubai, and provide them a clear career path towards becoming tourism leaders."

Following Dubai Tourism's successful launch of the Tourism Talent Incubator in 2015, the programme has now developed into the two-year National Development Programme that gives young Emiratis the opportunity to build their careers within the tourism industry in collaboration with the Dubai College of Tourism. The programme is a long-term industry familiarisation initiative offered to all new Emirati graduates recruited by Dubai Tourism.

New for 2016 is the introduction of the Key Talent Programme, which aims to develop leadership skills of nationals while the recently launched DTCM Core Curriculum provides training on acquiring business acumen and people skills aligned with the strategic objectives of the organisation.

Dubai Tourism will also organise a Summer Programme for college and university students, running 24st July to 18th August. During this period, students will work with an expert team and gain valuable experience through on-the-job training. It will also give them the opportunity to attend workshops on CV writing and interviewing skills. Further to this, Dubai Tourism's 8-week Internship Programmes will commence in September and January.

Mariam Al Maeeni, Director of HR at Dubai Tourism, commented: "As the leading national platform for both job seekers and employers looking for skilled, bright Emirati talent, Careers UAE is the ideal catalyst to encourage aspiring and UAE nationals to be a part of the tourism development journey. Dubai Tourism is constantly striving towards developing the country's human assets, and we believe our youth have the passion and the potential to make a significant contribution to both our organisation and the country. During Careers UAE, we will inform our young Emiratis on the different positions available in our various departments and give them the necessary information and support required for the initial stage of their employment at Dubai Tourism."

Careers UAE 2016 is being held at the Dubai World Trade Centre from 16- 18 May, and the Dubai Tourism stand at the event is located in Hall 4, Stand ZF-5.
