COMEX, the region's leading ICT Trade Fair was officially inaugurated by HE Mohammad bin Hamad Al Rumhi, Minister of Oil and Gas, in the presence of H.E Dr. Ahmad bin Mohammad Al Futaisi, Minister of Transport & Communications and Chairman of the Board of Directors of Information Technology Authority, as well as other government. The exhibition will continue until May 1st. During the opening ceremony, the Interactive Open Door Solution was used to welcome the guest of honor and display the features of this solution by interacting with him.
On the occasion of the opening ceremony of COMEX 2015, HE Dr. Mohammad bin Hamad Al Rumhi, Minister of Oil and Gas, said: "I feel that there is a notable significant progress in the implementation of the e.oman strategy and I am happy with what I saw and heard today. The government ambitious was to provide government eServices easy-to-citizen, and this what we see today in the exhibition represented in the great achievements in the field of Information Communication Technology (ICT)."
Dr. Salim Sultan Al Ruzaiqi, CEO of ITA, talking on the important participation of government entities at e.oman pavilion, saying: "The opportunities to learn, adopt and implement in Oman are enormous; not only we are exposed to the latest technology platforms and services, we also see how these innovations will bring better governance, collaboration and connectivity that aims to improve the quality of life."
The exhibition contains three sections namely: e.oman pavilion in which all government entities will showcase their eServices, COMEX business section to promote the latest trends and technologies in fiber optics, cloud computing and integrated solutions, and COMEX shoppers section to display latest technologies, tools, products and eServices.
A number of key national infrastructure projects such as the National Digital Certification Center, G-Cloud project and several projects directed to develop small and medium enterprises will be exhibited at e.oman pavilion. Moreover, many specialized ICT workshops will be held at e.oman pavilion. Different sections such as the Electronic media, the e-entertainment and innovations, and digital solutions will be added to e.oman pavilion this year.
A total of 34 Omani government entities are present in the pavilion to share expertise and explore new business opportunities in the field of ICT, as well as to learn through case studies of countries present. The e.oman pavilion is also hosting international government bodies from Singapore, Lithuania, Estonia and Kuwait.
A key component of COMEX 2015 is the short sessions under Majliscom section conducted concurrently for the general public. These are scheduled in convenient half-hour sessions and will cover a range of topics such as future of social media, G-Cloud technology, launch of new applications, next generation technologies, and others.
Industry heavyweights like Cisco, Ooredoo, Avaya, Microsoft, GBM, Omantel, MGIT and Oman Fiber Optics have supported COMEX 2015 as key sponsors. Other exhibitors include companies from Oman, Kuwait, Egypt, India, Italy, Jordan, Yemen, Estonia, Saudi Arabia, Singapore and Lithuania. These participants will introduce attendees to the latest research and development in technology, new products and new opportunities that will help companies to upgrade technology platforms.
Tarek Ali, General Manager of OITE, comments on the business section, saying: "We can never underestimate the power of face to face marketing. This is the invaluable networking opportunity COMEX provides to participants and their customers. The event provides our overseas exhibitors with valuable insights into Oman's growing business sector as well as productive bi-lateral business opportunities. COMEX has evolved into one of the most recognized ICT exhibitions in the Gulf. Attracting over 95,000 consumers and 10,000 business buyers from Oman's private and public sectors, Oman's premier IT, Telecom & Technology Exhibition, COMEX is organized by OITE Trade Fairs and held under the patronage of e.oman. The timings of COMEX exhibition are from 10:00 AM to 10 PM in the period from 27th to 30th April and on 1st May from 4:00 PM to 10:00 PM.
The COMEX Conference in its 6th edition will be held from 28th & 29th April, 2015 with the theme "Disruptive technologies for fast tracking National Growth". In this edition, a greater emphasis on engaging the participants through interactive round tables, workshops, panel discussions and thematically crafted agenda. The conference will be opened under the patronage of HE Dr. Said bin Hamed bin Said Al Rubaii, Secretary General of the Education Council.
