Aims at developing auto & auto component trade & investments

ACMA, the apex body of the Auto Component Industry in India, with the support of the Ministry of Commerce & Industry, the Government of India, the Indian Embassy Cairo, the Egyptian Auto Feeders Association (EAFA) and the Egyptian Junior Business Association (EJB) is organising the first-ever, two-day buyers-sellers meet in Cairo on June 7 and 8, 2015. The two-day meet at Marriot Hotel in Zamalek, Cairo, Egypt has been conceptualised to drive significant business prospects and opportunities for strategic investments and alliances between the auto and auto components industry of the two countries.

The fair will showcase a whole range of body and structure parts, engine and exhaust, suspension and braking, transmission and steering, electrical and electronics and rubber products, displayed by over forty leading Indian auto component manufacturers. The meet will witness presence of Egyptian OEMs, Tier 1 manufacturers, engineers, government representatives, dealers and distributers, interested in engaging with the Indian automotive industry.

According to Organisation Internationale des Constructeurs d'Automobiles (OICA), Egypt has witnessed a significant growth of 24 percent in sales of passenger vehicles in 2014, sales of cars grew from 2,20,000 units in 2013 to 2,73,500. Commercial Vehicles have also shown an increase of 20 percent from 63,000 units in 2013 to 75,600 in 2014. Additionally more than 53,00,000 PVs and CVs, taken together, are plying on Egypt roads, which is indicative of a sizeable aftermarket opportunity.

Outlining the business opportunity, Mr. Vinnie Mehta, Director General, ACMA, said, "In terms of vehicle production, Egypt tops the list of auto manufacturing nations in the Middle East and North Africa. It is also the hub of component exports, particularly to African and Middle Eastern states, and to Eastern Europe. Given the strong growth of auto industry in India and Egypt, it is only natural to seek partnership opportunities for mutual gain and collective benefit".

Emphasizing on the importance of the meet, Mr A Bharat Babu, Counsellor, Indian Embassy, Egypt, said, "A Buyers-Sellers Meet is a unique initiative to bring potential buyers to meet quality suppliers. This will not only help the Indian companies in showcasing their strengths and competencies, but will also strengthen our bi-lateral relation, ensuring gainful business outcome in the long run."

Today, the 700 hundred plus ACMA membership boasts of 576 ISO-9001 certifications, 467 TS-16849 certifications, 208 ISO-14001 certifications and 105 OHSAS-18001 certifications. Second only to Japan, India's auto components industry also has the highest number of Deming Awards to its credit.
