All of the planned 11,000 Mehr housing units of Kohgiluyeh-Boyer Ahmad province will be ready to be handed over to the applicants by the end of the tenure of the tenth government (September 2013), said the minister of roads and Urban development.

Talking to reporters during his one-day trip to the province on Thursday, Ali Nikzad said the units will be ceded to those applicants dwelling in the worn-out urban areas, IRNA reported.

He expressed satisfaction over the 80-percent physical progress of the province's Mehr housing project and urged the provincial executive officials to prioritize completion of unfinished projects including construction of infrastructures, health, treatment and educational centers and mosques.

He also announced that some $13 million have been allocated to complete construction of Yasuj's largest hospital, adding that this medical center will come on stream as soon as possible.

"Construction and development of the main roads of the province's counties is a huge and long-lasting project which is being implemented via the justice based government."

The minister added that with the completion of the semi-finished and underway road projects, great steps will be taken with regard to traffic reduction and decreasing accident prone points in the province's roads.

During his one-day trip, Nikzad visited 16 semi-finished road projects and promised to provide the credit to commission them.

In April, Nikzad said some 1.5 million low-income housing units will be handed over to the applicants by the end of the current year in the framework of Mehr Housing Scheme.

He said 300,000 units are under construction in rural areas, 120,000 in the worn-out textures of the cities, 180,000 in the cities with the population of less than 25,000, 300,000 in new cities and 600,000 in the cities with over 25,000 populations.

Nikzad also said that 22,500 units are expected to be ceded in Sistan-Baluchestan province in the current year of which 9,000 are rural and 13,500 are urban units.

Housing problems are expected to be resolved in the first half of the next year, he said.
