GUANGZHOU- The Ministry of Economy, along with National Programme for Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises, have held a seminar and dinner with its 53-member delegation to mark the conclusion of the 2017 Canton Fair China mission.

Juma Mohamed Al Kait, Assistant Undersecretary for Foreign Trade Affairs at the Ministry of Economy, emphasised the ministry's efforts to support the SME sector in the UAE, with the aim to help expand SME's horizons by building new partnerships through attending exhibitions like that of the Canton Fair.

During the event, Al Kait thanked the UAE Consulate General in Guangzhou for its efforts in facilitating the mission, as well as the local and federal authorities involved in organising the delegation's visit to the fair.

Abdulhakim Thamer Al Shamsi, Charge d'Affaires of the UAE Consulate in Guangzhou, praised the distinguished relations between the UAE and the People's Republic of China across various sectors. He said that the opening of the consulate in Guangzhou last year underscores the strength and development of relations between the two friendly countries.

Al Shamsi welcomed the delegation of entrepreneurs and people in business in Guangzhou, China's economic power. He said that the consulate will work to organise various visits for UAE delegations to meet with Chinese officials and businesspeople to ensure the development and success of trade and investment opportunities.

The seminar reviewed the activities and business interests via the exchange of experiences and building of partnerships among delegation members as a starting point for future trade cooperation between the UAE and China. The ministry seeks to identify the opinions, observations and proposals made by the participants to improve the organisation of future visits not only to China but other international markets as well.
