BEIRUT, 15th May, 2017 (WAM) -- Mouin Merehbi, Minister of State for Refugee Affairs in Lebanon, praised the UAEs role in supporting his country help Syrian refugees through the humanitarian, health and service projects it executes.

He said this during his meeting with Hamad Sultan Al Shamsi, UAE Ambassador to Lebanon, at the headquarters of the UAE Embassy in Beirut, in the presence of Counsellor Musallam Al Mansouri, Director of Humanitarian and Development Affairs Attache Office.

Merehbi stressed the efforts made by the UAE to help the refugees and host the Lebanese community. He said these steps contributed greatly in serving individuals suffering from degrading health and living conditions, not to mention deprivation, marginalisation and poverty.

Merehbi demonstrated the challenges that Lebanon faces as a result of an increase in the number of Syrian refugees. He said that his ministry is working to improve their condition.

Both sides discussed bilateral relations and the importance of developing it in a way that benefits the two brotherly countries. They also discussed political developments in Lebanon and the region.

Ambassador Al Shamsi stressed the countrys priority in helping the refugees and said that developmental projects would be launched this week in the Akkar region, as part of a chain of continuous projects in Lebanon.
