Dubai – United Arab Emirates: Held under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai, Minister of Finance and President of the Dubai Health Authority, His Excellency Humaid Al Qutami, Director-General of the Dubai Health Authority, officially inaugurated today the 23rd UAE International Dental Conference and Arab Dental Exhibition - AEEDC Dubai, which is taking place until the 7th of February, 2019 at the Dubai International Convention and Exhibition Centre.

This year, the 3-day premier global dental gathering brings together 155 world renowned speakers in dentistry, who will offer new insights into the latest treatment advances in dentistry while also focusing on the scientific and technology breakthroughs that are revolutionizing the dental industry. In addition, the conference features 16 hands-on workshops, 175 scientific sessions on a wide range of topics.

After the opening ceremony, His Excellency Humaid Al Qutami, accompanied by a high-level delegation comprising senior health officials from the government and private sector, along with well-known figures and experts in the field of dentistry, toured the exhibition area. During the tour, representatives of some of the biggest brands in dentistry briefed the delegation about the latest technology advances in the field that are extremely helpful for dentistry practitioners in their diagnosis and treatment. This year, the exhibition occupies an overall space of 85,250 square meters, covering 4 major country pavilions represented by Germany, Italy, Korea and China. The exhibition also attracted 2,732 local and international companies and witnessed the participation of over 4,000 international brands.

On this occasion, His Excellency Humaid Al Qutami expressed, on behalf of the Dubai Health Authority, his appreciation for this great annual event – AEEDC Dubai- which is considered one of largest global platforms for dental equipment and technology. It is also the ideal forum for discussions, lectures, open sessions and the exchange of ideas between the top-notch scientists, experts, and specialists, from the region and abroad.

His Excellency also said that Dubai has a strong presence in the international medical arena and such conferences and exhibitions represent a natural reflection of the great interest of the Government of Dubai in the health sector and its keenness to take the initiative and contribute to the development of medicine and its sciences and technologies and all practices related to the medical profession.

Commenting on the launch of the 23rd edition of AEEDC Dubai, Dr. Abdul Salam Al Madani, Executive Chairman of AEEDC Dubai, said, “Since its inception 22 years ago, AEEDC Dubai has grown at a rapid pace year after year and today it has clearly established itself as the leading global dental event and the most anticipated dental gathering for professionals, specialists and experts in the dental industry. AEEDC Dubai this year has witnessed a growth of 10%, and it is expected to attract over 50,000 visitors and participants in the next few days. In line with our efforts to promote high quality dental education in the region, our scientific committee has set a rich comprehensive agenda and I am highly confident that all attendees will find the key lectures and topics greatly useful in improving their understanding and knowledge about dentistry.”

Commenting on the key highlights of AEEDC Dubai this year, Dr. Nasser Malik, Scientific Chairman, AEEDC Dubai said, “The 2019 edition of AEEDC Dubai features a rich comprehensive agenda witnessing a number of educational programs, scientific activities and workshops as well as many highly specialized distinct dental forums where speakers and audience can interact and explore key topics related to all dental specialties. On the first day, AEEDC Dubai 2019 conference featured key discussions on the sidelines of ‘Pediatric Forum: Advanced Pediatric Dental Care in the Everyday Practice’ such as, Dental Fear and Avoidance of Children and Adolescents and To Save or to Extract Primary Teeth in Severe ECC? Overcoming the Challenges among others. Additionally, the conference highlighted key topics in Orthodontics including: The Role of Orthodontist in the New Era, What Can Define Today as Hybrid Treatment and Dental Hygiene – Sleep Disorders to name a few. Moreover, experts offered their unique insights on various topics in ‘Oral Implantology, Periodontology’ such as When to Save Or Extract Teeth? and Periimplantitis Prevention by Home Oral Care Means.

This year, AEEDC Student Competition which runs until the 6th of February, on the sidelines of AEEDC Dubai conference, brings together dental students from many leading dental colleges and universities in the region for a face-to-face competition. Moreover, the conference showcases 201 poster presentations, offering students and participants a unique opportunity to share their research papers and case studies.

For the first time, AEEDC Dubai witnessed the launch of ‘AEEDC Dubai Stars 2019’ which included a series of competitions as well as many fun and entertainment activities to foster a competitive spirit among celebrity dentists, influencers, experts and industry professionals.

AEEDC Dubai Stars program also features a panel discussion among experts who share their experiences on ‘Life and dentistry’ while also involving key sessions on AEEDC Dubai Ambassadors, Smile Masters, Motivation Session, Success Stories and Lifestyle Tips and Tricks among other entertainment activities.

Additionally, the program launched ‘The ‘Best Composite Filling Competition’, which is a lively contest being held for the first time in AEEDC Dubai, where dentistry practitioners, dental students and experts compete with each other to determine who would be able to complete the perfect composite filling task in 15 minutes.

Secondly, the ‘Best Veneers in AEEDC Dubai Stars 2019 Competition’ task is tailored for dentists, dental students and experts and specifically aimed at identifying who possesses the talent and the skill to fix the best veneers in 15 minutes.

Furthermore, the ‘Best Root Canal Filling’ in AEEDC Dubai Stars 2019 competition offers dentists, students and professionals a chance to showcase their Root Canal Filling skills. The challenge, which involves attention and skill, identifies who has the necessary talent and expertise to finish the Root Canal Filling task in 15 minutes. 

Moreover, ‘Meet the Master with AEEDC Dubai Stars 2019’ presents winners a chance to get a fully covered unforgettable training experience in Dubai and Italy with Dr. Majd Naji, Member of the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry and Chairman of Liberty Medical Group. This includes 3 days training in Liberty Dental Clinic – UAE, Advanced NNN Veneers Training – UAE, 2 days visit to Cefla factory – Italy and an appearance in the Smile Masters Show – Italy and the UAE.
