A number of agreements were signed as part of the UAE's innovation and world-class health care agenda

The Ministry of Health and Prevention (MOHAP) has announced that the Ministry’s participation this year has had a strong line up of innovative health services launched globally and regionally during its participation at the Arab Health Exhibition & Congress 2017, which was hailed by participants and visitors as a success, revealing the UAE’s excellence and leadership in securing the nation’s future in healthcare and keep the happiness of the community. The Ministry had also signed numerous agreements with a range of international healthcare companies and prestigious local and international universities.

H.E. Dr. Muhammad Salim Al Olama, Undersecretary of MOHAP, said that the Ministry's strategy is based on the vision of the UAE Government’s wise leadership for the country’s healthcare sector to provide innovative health services and build international partnerships with prominent medical institutions and exchange knowledge in healthcare innovations by creating a global hub that will boost the country as a global destination for sustainable health, in accordance with the goals set in the UAE National Agenda 2021.

Dr Al Olama said the results of the participation in the exhibition was exemplary and the remarkable attention the Ministry’s platform has received from delegates who have witnessed the number of quality diagnostic and medical and therapeutic services displayed, at par with the best international standards and practices.

H.E. Dr. Yousef Mohammad Al Serkal, Assistant Undersecretary for Hospitals Sector at MOHAP highlighted the ministry's keenness on improving UAE health services in accordance with best international practices as part of the Ministry’s initiative to search for healthcare solutions that would meet the needs of the future. The Ministry also aims to attract strategic partnerships with globally-recognized medical research centers and invest in sustainable health services in order to provide a health system at par with international standards of innovation.

Dr. Al Serkal added that one of the most important projects launched by the Ministry during the exhibition is the ‘Genome’ Project, which aims to create a database and reference for genetic diseases in the UAE and break into the field of genetic medicine. The project uses genetic information as a proactive clinical approach to diagnosing diseases for the first time in the Middle East. It is a unique technology which provides data analysis within a minute on the health status of a person using his DNA. Another initiative, the Smart Mirror Service, which was launched for the first time globally, is an effective tool for patients with non-communicable diseases such as diabetes, heart, blood pressure. Meanwhile, the Screen Sliding education service is the first of its kind in the Middle East which provides health education for some of the chronic diseases targeted in the National Agenda.

He also enumerated a range of innovative health services using artificial intelligence interactive bots as part of future technology solutions to reach the best clinical and operational efficiency levels and change the face of traditional health care chain. Another medical technology launched for the first time in the Middle East is the latest laboratory blood device that allows multiple camera systems and smart facilities for the distribution of blood samples, including quality examination of the samples to achieve better control on all samples.

The Ministry also witnessed the signing of various Memorandum of Understanding and agreements with leading partners in healthcare, including pharmaceutical group Boehringer to reduce the rate of illnesses and deaths from stroke and heart attack and Hoffmann-La Roche to reduce cancer mortality by 25 per cent by the end of 2021. The Ministry also signed a cooperation agreement with Monash University of Australia to provide training in health management and health education professionals as well as with RAK Hospital for providing eye test services and community awareness campaigns. A Memorandum of Understanding was also signed with Pure Health Company as part of the unified national health file project.
