'Gold on 27' will open at the iconic hotel on April 8.

Dubai's Burj al Arab hotel has unveiled a new gold-themed lounge, owner Jumeirah Group announced on Wednesday.

Situated on the top floor of the sail-shaped hotel, 'Gold on 27' has textured walls which "shimmer with gold" and special lighting effects which emphasise the bar's art deco design, owner Jumeirah Group said.

"This venue has been 18 months in the making from concept to completion and represents an incomparable addition to Dubai's nightlife," Anthony McHale, general manager of Burj Al Arab Jumeirah, said in the statement.

The bar will allow residents and visitors to make bookings through a mobile app, which is activated upon arrival at the entrance to the iconic hotel and allows access to the venue.
