Abu Dhabi: Abu Dhabi University (ADU) has today launched its first-ever social media initiative for university applications via Instagram. The campaign calls for applicants to comment what they would like to study using the hashtag #ADU_Undergrad from Monday, July 22 until Thursday, August 1. Prospective students who communicate their program of interest at the university in a creative manner will be automatically enrolled in a competition that is set to launch via a post by social media influencer, Haifa Bseiso known as Fly with Haifa. Over the course of three weeks, interested participants will have the chance to share their thoughts on ADU’s Instagram account on five Instagram posts and five Instagram stories, after which ADU will select the top three most creative posts that qualify as the lucky winners of a new laptop thereby helping to equip them for their upcoming studies at ADU.

The latest initiative by ADU was launched to encourage applications in today’s tech-savvy world by prompting the youth to apply through a setting in which they feel more at ease.

Professor Phil Hamill, Associate Provost of Student Success commented on the launch of the campaign, “It is imperative that universities consider young students’ preferences and speak in their language without making compromises on quality and excellence. The world is fast changing as the digital transformation impacts the way educational institutions communicate with students.  With this initiative, we want to send a strong message: as a student-centric university, ADU is uniquely positioned to respond to our students’ evolving needs and provide them with the relevant tools for success as they prepare to pave their own path in a rapidly evolving workplace.”

Laila Kroma, Senior Manager of Admission & Recruitment said: “Our experience shows that students tend to postpone thinking about the areas of study they are interested in pursuing, often to the last minute, due to a lack of certainty around such an important decision that will impact their careers and future. As such, we wanted to create an engaging initiative that would entice them to think about their education from a different perspective and encourage them to explore the learning opportunities available to them. Given its highly visual nature and ease of accessibility, Instagram has quickly become an essential tool for communicating with prospective students from across the region and beyond. As such, we hope launching this competition will instigate a positive response from students seeking a world-class educational experience.”
