Kuwait has awarded three projects for maintenance works at its Al-Zour oil refinery at a combined cost of around 156.4 million Kuwaiti dinars ($516 million), the Arabic language daily Al-Anba reported on Sunday.

One contract covers repair and maintenance works for the processing units at the 615,000-bpd refinery while the other two include electrical and precision machinery maintenance, the paper said, citing local oil sources.

The first contract, with a value of 53.2 million dinars ($175.5 million) was awarded to Fawaz Trading and Engineering Services Company.

The second project, worth around 52.4 million dinars ($172.9 million), was won by Gulf Spic General Trading and Contracting Company while the third was awarded to Imco Engineering and Construction Company, with a value of 50.8 million dinars ($167.6 million), the paper said.

It quoted the sources as saying Al-Zour refinery, one of the world's largest refining units, has cost around $16 billion and it would be commissioned in June 2020.
