UAE companies embrace English language training

Government organisation Tanmia among those to enrol students at International House, Dubai

Dubai, 24 August 2004: Local companies have been quick to embrace the English language courses on offer at International House, Dubai, according to the centre's director Abdulqader Al Khaja.

Since courses started in April, the English business language courses have attracted groups from National Bank of Dubai, Al Tayer's National Development Programme, the government organisation Tanmia, and Dubai Bank.

Khaja said: "English is an essential skill in the business world, especially in a city that is as cosmopolitan as Dubai. UAE companies are recognising the need for language training for nationals both to help them develop their prospects in this country - and to help them climb the career ladder in any nation."

In addition to corporate employee development programmes, International House has seen a steady stream of individual bookings.

"It is encouraging to see the high levels of interest from individuals looking to develop their skill set," said Khaja. "Self-motivation is one of the biggest drivers of success in the business world, and we are seeing students of all ages and nationalities enrol for training outside office hours."

International House Dubai opened in April as only the fourth IHWO centre in the Gulf, after three centres in Saudi Arabia. Headquartered in Dubai, the centre offers courses across the UAE.

IHWO is designed to raise language education standards worldwide, through its network of more than 126 schools in more than 30 countries. As well as language training, the network promotes international understanding through its partner centres.

All the language centres in the IHWO network are independently owned and managed, but all adhere to the same codes of practice and follow rigorous inspections to ensure they all offer the same high quality education and customer service around the world.
