Transas, an international leader in maritime navigation systems, simulation and VTS, has registered with Dubai Maritime City (DMC). In early 2004, Transas will open its new Regional Center of Excellence (HUB office) in Dubai.

Following a meeting with Transas Managing Director, Andrey Illyin, Mr. Amer Ali, Project Manager, Dubai Maritime City stated: We welcome Transas onboard. DMC is the definitive location for any maritime-related enterprise as it will cluster various sectors of the industry and thus provide the ideal setting for international leaders such as Transas who wish to develop their business in new regions. As a maritime hub, DMC will provide a focal point: for over 5000 maritime related businesses in the region and a far greater number worldwide."

Mr. Ilyin outlined the plans for Transas Middle East saying : 'We at Transas see a huge market potential for its product in the Middle East area. It is vital for us to be close to our customers not only in terms of meeting their demands, but also for being able to provide the prompt and most effective service whenever needed. Our new office in Dubai will be staffed with the top-level professionals that will provide the full range of services from project design to installation and post-sale maintenance to Transas distributors and customers in this area.'

The new Transas Middle East office will be added to the already successfully operating Transas Eurasia (St. Petersburg), Transas Marine USA (Seattle), Transas Marine UK (Portsmouth), Transas Europe (Hamburg), Transas Scandinavia (Sweden), Transas Pacific (Singapore) and Transas China (Shanghai).

Being an integral part of the Transas international group of companies, Transas Middle East will be responsible for the distribution and service of the entire range of Transas products in UAE, Saudi Arabia, Oman, Kuwait, Qatar, Iran, Iraq, Pakistan, Lebanon, Egypt, Bahrain and Yemen.

Mr. Andrey Ilyin has been appointed Managing Director of the new Transas office. Prior to his appointment, as Managing Director of the new Middle East Transas office, Mr. Ilyin was the Manager of the Transas Simulation Business Unit and he also was involved in establishing the Transas distribution network in the South-East Asia.

All Transas products are designed in strict accordance with international requirements established for these types of equipment. The Transas R&D and QA procedures have been certified for conformity to the international ISO-1994:9001 quality standard.

The principle of open architecture implemented in all Transas developments, as well as the modular design of Transas products, allows the seamless integration of the company's various technologies into large multi-purpose solutions.

Transas simulators have been accepted by the US Coast Guard NMC for use in approved training courses. The ECDIS assembly at the Transas premises in Gothenburg, Sweden, and Hamburg, Germany, is 'Wheel mark'-approved.

The entire range of Transas products is distributed on a worldwide basis via the company's International Sales and Service Network represented in some 90 countries. The Distribution network is coordinated by Transas Centres of Excellence (HUB offices) located in Sweden, Norway, Germany, Spain, United States, Russia, Ukraine, Untied Kingdom, Singapore, China and UAE. Over 250 of the largest training and simulator centers in the world are equipped with Transas simulator systems. Transas VTS (Vessel Traffic Service) systems are installed and operated in some 50 ports and harbours worldwide.

About Dubai Maritime City
Dubai Maritime City will be the world's largest maritime development, located on a 195-hectare manmade peninsula that will be connected to the mainland by a causeway. The first development of its kind, Dubai Maritime City will offer world-class facilities to maritime businesses in the region and worldwide. It will be the hub for six large and diverse sectors: marine marketing, management, services, recreation, education, ship design and manufacture. Every element of infrastructure required by these sectors will be provided. Progress at DMC is ongoing. Dredging has already begun off Dubai's Port Rashid. At present reclamation work for DMC is ongoing and the Master Plan is underway. The project will be developed in phases and DMC is working on an implementation plan. Reclamation will be complete in the early part of 2005. The facility will be ready by 2006. 

It is planned that there will be four areas within the DMC facility:

Commercial area
This will include: a harbor area, offices for maritime related businesses, banks, support services, restaurants and leisure areas, and a flexible exhibition site.

Leisure area
This will include: berthing for yachts, a museum.

Repair area
This will include: a dockyard, ship supply outlets, ship repair area, ship building area, marine and maritime retail area.
