27 February 2014, Dubai, UAE -- Sofitel The Palm Dubai has been awarded "The Best Head Concierge of the Year 2013" in the UAE at the DTCM Concierge Industry Awards ceremony. Going on its 12th year, the Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing (DTCM) hosted the ceremony at the Intercontinental Festival City this year. The award went to the hotel's chief concierge, Amod Jha, who has been in the UAE for almost 15 years and an esteemed member of Sofitel The Palm since May 2012. With a degree in Hotel Management and Catering Technology and experience in hotels since 1995, Jha is an expert in his field. He has also served in upscale hotels across Dubai such as Sofitel Dubai Jumeirah Beach and the famous Burj Al Arab.
"As a member of the Cles d'Or, Amod represents the highest of guest service standards and is always highly recognized by our guests as the point of contact for any request they might have to make their stay even more enjoyable. The skills, abilities and knowledge of the concierge teams for 5-star hotels in Dubai were assessed and awarded to help motivate and improve hospitality services and standards for the tourism industry. 100 hotels participated in the competition where they were evaluated through a process over a course of 2 months. The phases included a mystery guest visit to the hotel, Q&A sessions and workshop presentations in the Dubai Police Club.
Sofitel The Palm Dubai was also part of 5 finalists for "The Best Concierge Team of the Year" award.
