28 September 2009 (Dubai, UAE): Moorfields Eye Hospital Dubai, the Dubai branch of the world renowned Moorfields Eye Hospital in London, has signed an agreement with Qatar Insurance Company (QIC - Doha), one of the longest established and largest insurance companies in the Gulf, under which Moorfields will provide specialist outpatient and daycare treatment to patients covered by QIC - Doha.

Under the new agreement, Moorfields Eye Hospital Dubai will join the preferred medical service provider network of QIC - Doha, further extending the regional reach of Moorfields, following the signing of direct settlement agreements with medical insurers in the UAE and Saudi Arabia.

QIC - Doha members of the 'Qatar Care' Advantage and Premier plans will now have convenient access to world class eye care services, consultations and treatment provided by Moorfields Eye Hospital Dubai.

Chris Canning, CEO and Medical Director at Moorfields Eye Hospital Dubai, said:

"The agreement with Qatar insurance Company - Doha is another important step towards covering the entire GCC region and will help to create quick and convenient access to care for patients in Qatar. QIC - Doha is a well established company with a strong reputation and we are very pleased to be working with them.

"These insurance agreements are an important part of our strategy to extend our reach to the region, using Dubai Health Care City as our regional base. We are delighted with the level of interest in our services amongst the local communities of the GCC countries and we aim to facilitate access to care as effectively as possible, for them as well as the expatriate populations. We now have agreements with insurers in place in the UAE, Saudi Arabia and Qatar, and expect to cover the other GCC countries by the end of 2009."

The services and extent of treatment provided by Moorfields Eye Hospital Dubai under insurance agreements are dependent upon the type of insurance cover held by individual patients.
