INFOCAD S.A., Dimension Printing Group's resellers partner in the Middle East, Greece, Cyprus and North Africa, announced that it will now offer the uPrint ™ Personal Desktop Printer within the region. The Dimension Printing Group is a business unit of Stratasys. Inc, which manufactures rapid prototyping and direct digital manufacturing systems and 3D printers.
uPrint addresses the needs of customers who are looking for an affordable 3D Printer that can create physical models directly from 3D CAD data. 3D printing is becoming increasingly adopted within the architecture, educational and automotive sectors and INFOCAD has already experienced strong interest from architects who need 3D scale models of their designs, (maquettes) for the approval and better visualization and communication of their designs to customers.
In particular, Uuniversities in Greece and Cyprus that are teaching architecture have introduced 3D printing to their students as a way to create awareness of the role that new technology can play in this area. INFOCAD has also registered a keen interest from the Mechanical and Industrial Engineering education sector, in affordable 3D printing because it is an effective means to demonstrate latest design and modeling technologies to students.
INFOCAD CEO, Kyriakos Papantoniou observed, "many prominent educational institutes in Greece, Saudi Arabia, Egypt and Pakistan are already using 3D printing as part of their teaching curriculum and there is increasing interest from other Middle East countries that are quick to adopt the latest technologies in rapid product development. We aim to bring awareness to our territory and always offer latest technology offerings that are in line with those available in other developed industrial regions. Technology transfer to new emerging markets is not always an easy task, but we find that our customers are very open to new ideas and ways of creating new products. We feel that the uPrint 3D Printer will receive a warm welcome from our region and the price tag will prove a great incentive for customers to consider this technology as a fundamental part of their product design and development process."
"uPrint provides users with a networked, desktop-sized 3D printer capable of building durable, accurate models ready for testing," said Tim Heller, managing director of Stratasys Europe. "It appeals to designers, engineers, architects, teachers and others looking to work with the most affordable, high-quality 3D modelling system available today. We are pleased that our trusted partner INFOCAD is will now be able to offer uPrint to the Middle East region and beyond."
