Dubai (United Arab Emirates): Dubai Taxi Corporation (DTC) at Roads & Transport Authority (RTA) has recently signed a contract with Al Dobowi Tyre Company (Al Dobowi) for the supply of Korean-made Hankook tyres for its fleet, covering a two years period renewable, to the worth of 9 million dirham.

The contract was signed on behalf of DTC by its CEO Abdul Aziz Malik, and for Al Dobowi by its CEO Mr. Harjeev Singh Kandhari, in the presence of several directors and executives from both parties.

"Al Dobowi was selected following a public tender made by DTC attracting participation from several tyre specialist companies across the globe, but following analysis of offers made, Al Dobowi has been nominated for submitting the best offer of AED8,878,608 and the company has a good record of experience and reputation in the field of tyres" commented Abdul Aziz Malik.

Malik pointed to the crucial role of tyres in safeguarding the safety of the vehicle and accordingly the driver and passengers, which warranted selecting suitable tyres and regular tyre-related services. "This is being addressed in the contract with Al Dobowi as DTC is seeking to ensure all security & safety aspects in tyres to achieve the best results in this regard and contribute to realizing RTA vision of providing Safe & Smooth Transport for All" he added.

The CEO of DTC further added: "The contract provides for supplying tyres for DTC fleet from Hankook brand manufactured in South Korea, compatible with the GCC specifications and standards at the agreed prices. The contract also provides for tyre installation & balancing in addition to wheel alignment free of charge in case of replacing two or more tyres of a vehicle. It also covers repairing tyre punctures for DTC fleet freely and appointing agents to carry this job at their facilities freely as well".

"DTC mark/logo will be placed on the sidewall of the tyre, and the process is set to begin by Al Dobowi at its Center within DTC workshop at Al Qusais, where the tyres of about 30 to 40 vehicles will be changed every day, and the company will equip the station with the required tools and personnel" concluded Al Malik.

For his part the CEO of Al Dobowi Harjeev Singh Kandhari expressed his delight with winning this tender and working hand in hand with the RTA in general and DTC in particular under an agreement for two year renewable. "We stand ready to honour our commitments under the contract made and assigning due attention to safeguarding the interests of the RTA and DTC fleet to achieve the utmost level of security & safety" he stated.

Kandhari added: "Our Company will provide all relevant equipment required for tire changing, balancing and aligning at DTC workshop and operate it with experienced and skilled personnel, while providing nitrogen gas to all newly fitted tyres at the Center free of charge, in addition to providing a mobile service in emergency cases or rare jobs".

"According to the contract, Hankook tyres fitted to DTC vehicles are covered by a warranty against manufacturing defects, along with the provision and installation of the required service equipment, and safety certificates; which will be issued twice during the initial period of the contract" said Kandhari in final remark.
