Dubai, United Arab Emirates - Raffles World Academy, an International Baccalaureate school run by Innoventures Education, held its annual graduation ceremony on May 26th at American University in Dubai (AUD).

The 2018 graduates from Raffles World Academy have achieved remarkable academic, athletic and artistic success with 75 students completing their International Baccalaureate Diplomas and several receiving scholarships to leading international universities, including: Cornell, London School of Economics and University of Toronto amongst others.

The ceremony was graced by Her Excellency (H.E.) Dr. Maryam Matar, founder and chairperson, UAE Genetic Diseases Association (UAE GDA) who shared her personal experience and learnings with the graduating students.  As the Founder of UAE GDA, H.E. Dr Matar is single handedly responsible for putting UAE on the global map of genetic research and innovation.

Recognised among top 20 Arab scientists with the biggest contribution to humanity by British Scientific Community 2016, Dr Matar is a well-known youth mentor and STEM ambassador. She is also listed amongst the ‘top 100 most influential Arabs in the world’ by Arabian Business for six consecutive years.
 
H.E. Dr. Matar shared her experiences and learnings on being a successful leader and innovator to the students. As the pioneering genetic experts in the region, Dr Matar also shared the insights in ‘epigenetics’ the emerging science in the field and importance of healthy lifestyle and habits on academic performance for the students.

Her words are sure to inspire the attending students who are planning their future fields of study and careers, especially those who intend to study medicine at university.

About Innoventures Education
