Educational and recreational weekend activities throughout Ramadan
Amman, Jordan- 16 September 2007: During the holy month of Ramadan, the Children's Museum will be presenting the children of Jordan with an opportunity to interactively learn more about the Islamic culture and civilization. This programme will take place through a series of recreational events that will provide children with educational material related to Ramadan and the famous Arab scholars.
A variety of weekend activities and events will take place throughout the month of Ramadan. One of the regular activities is entitled, "The Good Word", in which children will be given the opportunity to share their dreams and aspirations with other children on a board that will be placed in the main hall of the Museum. Another regular fixture will be "Ramadan Scavenger Journey" in which children will be asked to search for answers for questions related to Islamic culture around the museum. There will also be a musician performing on a traditional instrument. Finally, On Fridays, Ramadan Arts and Crafts will be held in the studio from 10:00 - 11:30 am, in addition to a showing of "Hakawati" along with plays particularly for Ramadan in the "Express Yourself" section From 12:00 until 1:00 pm. While on Saturdays, the Ramadan Arts activities will be held in the studio at two different times: 11:00 - 12:30 am and 1:30 - 2:30 pm, and the "Hakawati" will be held in the library from 12:30 - 1:30 pm throughout the entire month of Ramadan.
On Saturday the 22nd, the Museum will be holding an interactive lecture on nutrition with dietician Amal Nasser from the Anana Center. The lecture will give both children and adults general information on healthy eating, with a focus on nutritious diets to follow during Ramadan. On that particular day, the museum will also be hosting a book signing and story telling by Taghreed Najar.
The Director of the museum, Hanya Salah, commented on the activities and events taking place during the holy month of Ramadan saying, "We, at the Children's Museum, are always aiming to encourage children to reach their goals and aspirations. We continuously work toward providing individual and collective activities to stimulate the children's creativity in an interactive manner, which is both fun and educational. Finally, I would like to wish all the children and their families a Ramadan Kareem."
