Abu Dhabi-UAE: 2 March, 2013 - The Centre of Waste Management - Abu Dhabi has announced that all new commercial licensees in the trading, industrial, occupational, handicrafts and construction sectors will be exempted from tariff fees on waste production during their first year of operation.

The announcement follows the recent decree issued by the Executive Council of Abu Dhabi mandating new investors and commercial license holders to brief the Centre of Waste Management - Abu Dhabi on the mechanism that they will adopt to reduce and better manage waste. Tariff fees on waste production will be collected by the Department of Economic Development only after the end of the stipulated exemption period.

His Excellency Mohamed Rashed Al Hameli, General Manager, Center of Waste Management - Abu Dhabi, said: "In line with the vision of our wise leadership, the new decree facilitates economic development in Abu Dhabi, which is the need of the hour today. Based on the Abu Dhabi Vision 2030, the Center of Waste Management is keen to boost economic competitiveness in Abu Dhabi through encouraging start-ups. We invite the business community to leverage the benefit of our latest initiative to waive tariffs on waste management for the first year. We urge these new ventures to step up their vital contribution to the emirate's goals of economic diversification."

The Center of Waste Management prioritizes the creation of an ideal business environment in the emirate of Abu Dhabi through mobilizing the involvement of relevant government and semi-government entities, as well as the private sector to achieve shared goals that focus on developing the contribution of non-oil sectors to the national GDP of the emirate.
