Abu Dhabi - July 22, 2009: Abu Dhabi Land the U.A.E. based contracting giant, announced the commencement of the last phase of the Dredging, Reclamation & Rock revetment works of the Fantasy Island - Dolphin project. As part of the renowned Royal Group, Abu Dhabi Land utilizes all available resources to maintain an efficient, competent, professional and reliable presence.
The project was awarded to the company in 2006 by Tamouh Investments, an original project value of AED 47,875,000, which was later revised to AED 77,875,000 due to revised scope. Abu Dhabi Land is responsible for design, technical submittals, procurement, delivery, installation and commissioning of all works required in the development of the island.
The process required the engineers to shape the Island by constructing rock bunds and rock revetment walls to obtain the desired Dolphin Shape. The surrounding areas were dredged to form accessible channels to pump the fill materials to reclaim the Island to the required limits and levels. Additionally, earth works were carried out to obtain the required levels and contour for Islands. The project is due for completion in 2 years.
The company has also made headway within its involvement with the coastal protection Works for the Marina Square in Sector 1 of Al Reem Island development in the capital. The AED 55,600,000 worth project was awarded to the company in 2007 based on the evaluation carried out by Alliance and Tamouh. Al Reem Island located at the northeastern coast of Abu Dhabi and the Marina Square is the first part of the island to be developed.
Abu Dhabi Land's responsibilities include the development of a circular small craft marina approximately 180 meters in diameter with a total of 22 berths including pontoons, guide piles, gang ways and associated M&I works. A water taxi court yard with 7 berths and a super yacht marina with 12 berths including pontoons, guide piles and gang ways. Additionally the project will feature 145 meters of beach plus rubble mound groynes, two rubble mound breakwaters and a Fuelling and sewage pump out berth.
