Fujairah More than 350 boy and girl pupils from Fujairah and the East Coast have started a two-month summer programme to memorise the Holy Quran organised by the Fujairah Welfare Association at more than 14 centres along the East Coast.
A source from the association said the boys have been distributed among nine centres in Fujairah city, Qidfa, Al Bidya, Dibba, Sharm, Thoban and Murbedh, and the girls have joined the summer programme at five centres in Fujairah, Qidfa, Al Bidya, Dibba and Sharm.
"The main goal is to encourage our pupils to memorise at least two chapters of the Holy Quran, correctly recite the verses and enhance their knowledge of Islam and its teachings," the source said.
The association will award every pupil who memorises two chapters of the Holy Quran. A schedule of lectures will also be arranged during the summer programme to enhance their social values.
The pupils will be taken on trips to Dubai and Sharjah to visit major parks, the Dubai Internet City, Sharjah TV, the Dubai Media City, several newspapers, Dubai TV, the Sharjah Scientific Museum and the seaports in the two emirates.
These visits will also make them aware of the development projects that are underway.
