Toshiba's brand new tablet - the slimmest and lightest in the market - will be hitting Oman's shelves in November, according to the company's regional manager, John Maliakal.
Being launched in the sultanate as part of a larger Middle East-wide release, the tablet has a 25.7cm screen, is 0.76cm thick and weighs 544g.
The AT200 was launched at the IFA exhibition in Berlin on September 1.
Maliakal, regional manager for Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Kuwait, Bahrain and Oman, told Muscat Daily that Toshiba has yet to decide whether the tablet will be marketed in the Middle East under the same name or if it will be rebranded.
He said, "It will be the world's thinnest and lightest tablet. Samsung has the thinnest tablet at the moment, which is slimmer than the iPad.
"We have not yet finalised the pricing of the tablet. That will take another two weeks."
Although the exact date of the launch has yet to be revealed, the Honeycomb tablet will run on Android 3.2 and includes front and rear cameras, micro USB ports, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, Flash support and an eight-hour battery life.
Toshiba will also be launching the first ever 3D laptop without glasses in the GCC on September 29 at a price expected to be close to the RO668 tag it retails for in the US, according to Maliakal.
He said, "It is more for entertainment, so you can watch your movies in 3D without glasses. It is cutting-edge technology which is affordable to people."
Maliakal added that the majority of the GCC shipment will be going to the bigger Saudi Arabian and UAE markets, but a smaller proportion will go on sale in the sultanate.
