Bid to facilitate appointment of qualified personnel
KUWAIT CITY, March 23: Minister of Social Affairs and Labor Dr Mohammad Al-Afasi has said the need to specify job descriptions in the Kuwaiti labor market to facilitate the appointment of qualified personnel that fulfill their specifications, reports Al-Qabas daily.
In a recent meeting of the Higher Committee for Kuwaiti Vocational Qualification, Al-Afasi added that employees should pass tests to confirm their qualifications. He believes this step would help in implementation of the development plan.
Deputy head of the committee, Dr Humoud Al-Mudhaf, said the job descriptions of almost 200 professions in the Kuwaiti job market have been specified, whereas a member of the committee Dr Fawzi Al-Dokhi said two decisions are likely to be issued by the minister to specify 23 professions in the job market, in which candidates must pass tests conducted by the committee before their appointments will be accepted. The professions include, but aren't limited to the teachers of special needs students, social and psychological specialists, carpenters, car mechanics, aluminum technicians, elevator technicians, computer programmers, welders, computer engineers, lab technicians, system analysts, and pharmacists.
Also, he noted the Kuwaiti job market comprises 3,500 professions, out of which 200 have already been specified in the last six years.
