MENYA, Egypt, Nov 5 (KUNA) -- The Kuwait University, just like other august world universities, supports efficient teaching staff, according to a study submitted to an inter-civilization gathering here on Wednesday.
The study was presented by Dr. Ahmad al-Bostan, chief of the technical office of the Kuwaiti Cabinet Women's Committee, to the first international conference "Dialogue among Civilizations - Channels of Communication among Nations", hosted by Menya University.
The Kuwaiti University, generally, attaches much attention to higher education pursuant to a blueprint to acquire academic excellence, it said.
The university's distinguished teaching center has enriched the academic educational process in the university, providing a congenial atmosphere for the faculty to mull over teaching issues.
The university's teaching standardization and development center has also contributed to efforts aiming to revamp the educational and learning process, it said.
Since it was established, the Kuwait University has been seeking to achieve distinction and excellence in the level of its academic programs with a view to notching up development goals and answering the needs of the society.
The academic recognition program is a significant tool of buttressing and cementing higher education programs and achieving distinction, the study said.
However, higher education in the Arab world is suffering a set of issues and problems that have imposed themselves on the educational sector, it said.
But, there are earnest efforts being exerted to resolve such issues by means of overhauling Arab higher educational systems in order to fulfill social, economic and cultural development requirements and to democratize education, it indicated.
An improvement in the Arab university educational system has become inescapable in the 21st century, which is witnessing the "society of knowledge and technology".
This society requires high mental capabilities and special potential and skills, the study said.
The three-day conference "Dialogue among Civilizations - Channels of Communication among Nations", hosted by Menya University, mainly aims to discuss family and children issues, basic education sources, globalization and cultural dialogue.
Earlier on Tuesday, a Kuwaiti TV band performed various pop songs on the sidelines of the inter-civilization conference.
It was attended by Menya Governor Ahmed Diaa Eddin, Undersecretary of the Kuwaiti Ministry of Higher Education Rasha Al-Sabah and several Kuwaiti diplomats in Cairo.
The spectators were so happy at the 90-minute performance of the Kuwaiti band.
Established in 1978, the band reflects Kuwait's cultural and artistic heritage and tradition, Abdullah Mubarak, deputy chairman of the Kuwaiti band, told KUNA.
Hailing his group as a pioneering team in the Gulf and Arab region, Mubarak thanked the Kuwaiti Ministry of Information for supporting his band.
Many Egyptian and foreign diplomats are taking part in the three-day conference, which provides the conferees an opportunity to mull over how to achieve more cooperation among peoples.
