Muscat: In line with Omran's mandate to create memorable destinations and experiences across the Sultanate, the company announced that construction of Al Jabal Al Akhdar Resort Hotel remains firmly on track for completion by December 2013.
Since the groundbreaking in December 2011, the project has progressed steadily with over 300 employees working on building the substructure and superstructure of the 86 luxury room resort hotel.
Earlier this year, the Tender Board awarded Dawood Contracting for the construction of the resort hotel. Operated by the Singaporean based hotel chain, Alila, the hotel resort is envisioned to become a luxury hotel and spa development along with a cliff side restaurant and pool on top of a large mountain, 2000 metres above sea level.
Rich Omani architecture
Eng. Wael bin Ahmed Al Lawati, CEO of Omran said, "Through our careful and considered approach, we have worked with the contractors and designers to ensure that every essence of Al Jabal Al Akhdar's majestic beauty is incorporated into the resort hotel.
"The interior of the hotel will reflect the rich Omani architecture while the exterior will be adorned with the mountain rock to accentuate the façade of the building.
He further added, "We regularly consider new projects and opportunities that will support the long-term success of Oman's tourism sector. Al Jabal Al Akhdar Resort Hotel is a prime example of the type of project that will attract visitors to come and explore the rich culture and beauty the Hajar mountain range has to offer all year around.
Eng. Al Lawati explained that the hotel is constructed to meet the world recognised LEED certification requirements which demonstrates the project's environmental and energy efficient features, and being one of the first buildings that are environmentally friendly.
Anti-littering campaign
Omran has also worked very closely with the community and local schools to maintain the fragility of Al Jabal Al Akhdar eco-system through an anti-littering campaign to promote environmentally friendly behaviour in addition to planting of olive trees.
Omran is mandated by the Government of Oman to deliver major projects and manage tourism assets and investments.
