Tehran - Researchers at Natural Essences Research Center, affiliated to Kashan University, have produced a machine for extracting essence of herbaceous plants.

Abdolrasoul Ebrahim-Abadi, who heads the center said that Iran has 10,000 native plant species, 10 percent of which are aromatic, according to Saturdayˈs edition of the English-language paper ˈIran Dailyˈ.

Given their medicinal properties and aromas, the herbs have many uses. The use of herbs for medicinal properties is regaining popularity.

Herbaceous plantsˈ leaves and stems wither at the end of a growing season to soil level. They have no persistent woody stem above ground.

Examples of herbaceous plants include bulbs, corms, tubers, common ragwort, peony and mint.
