MUSCAT -- The International Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) student branch at Sultan Qaboos University organised three important workshops from January 12 to 14.

On the opening day, a workshop on safety in work environment was delivered by Abdullah al Shabibi from Oman Electricity Transmission Company (OETC). Abdullah described techniques to avoid accidents in the work environment and elaborated on the safety triangle which consists of safety attitude, periodic maintenance and actual work.

The second workshop on fire safety was delivered by Corporal Ali al Hadid, a member of Civil Defence team at Sultan Qaboos University. The final workshop was about first aid techniques and procedures and consisted of a series of lectures by Dr Naser Matani, Zakyah al Sabihi and Samiha al Sabari from the nursing colleges at SQU.

The workshops help equip Electrical and Computer Engineering students at SQU with extracurricular activities and necessary skills required in the workplace. More than 100 students attended the workshops.
