Jordan, Saudi Arabia discuss Customs E-linking Project

Amman - Jordan and Saudi Arabia on Wednesday agreed on putting a time schedule to implement the E-link project to improve bilateral customs and trade cooperation.

Director General of Jordan Customs Ghaleb Sarayrah met with Director General of the Saudi Department of Customs Abdullah Al-Rasheed and Director General of Al Hadithah Customs Center Zayed Al-Zayed to discuss ways of boosting investment and economic cooperation as well as facilitating and simplifying procedures for better flow of goods, passengers and cargo.

Sarayrah said that the customs departments of both countries are following the process of E-linking to electronically exchange information for more secured and easy supply of international trade, noting that such step would help in protecting the economy and achieving effective customs control to remove all customs barriers.

The delegation was briefed on Jordan Customs ' development projects such as the Electronic Tracking Systems (ETS), the Golden List Program and the ASYCUDA World Project.

Al-Rasheed said that the E-Linking project will be implemented soon, adding that technical staff at the Saudi Customs are working on that project.
