Dubai - UTC Building & Industrial Systems' Middle East & Turkey regionalheadquarters in Dubai has achieved U.S. Green Building Council LEED Gold® certification, making itthe organization'sfourth LEED-certified office.The 30,000 square-footoffice on Sheikh Zayed Road is home to Carrier Middle East Ltd, Otis LLC, UTS Carrier LLC and Kidde Limited, all of which are part of UTC Building & Industrial Systems, a unit of United Technologies Corp. (NYSE: UTX).

The office met LEED Gold criteria in a number of areas, including its site development, water and energy efficiency, indoor air quality and innovation. LEED certification provides independent verification of a building's greenfeatures and means healthier, more productive places with reduced stress on the environment.

The office uses a range of Carrier's high efficiency chilled water fan coil units,which are 34 percentmore energy efficient and offer greater reliability and lower operating noise than current alternatives. The system was designed to comply with ASHRAE 62.1 for indoor air quality and ASHRAE 55-2004 for mechanically ventilated and conditioned spaces. The office also benefits from high efficiency light fittings in addition to motion and light sensors, which deliver a 30 percent reduction in lighting power use in comparison to standard light fittings and lights. The office uses Green Label carpeting, GREENGUARD furniture and ENERGY STAR® appliances. Potable water usage was also reduced by 38 percentin comparison to standard fittings.

Carrier was the first company to join the U.S. Green Building Council in 1993 and is the only company to be a founding member of green building councils on four continents.
