MUSCAT -- Omantel has announced that it has completed a significant project that connected 76 ROP sites directly to the Royal Oman Police head office using its state of the art MPLS (Multi-Protocol Label Switching) .

The highly tailored service provides a different range of bandwidths to suit the specific demands of the 76 sites that are connected through Omantel's MPLS Cloud system -- with the cloud acting as a hub to connect the ROP different sites without the need for leased lines.

Moving away from traditional leased lines to MPLS technology enables Omantel's corporate customers to save cost and deliver a greater return on investment for the organizations who sign up to use the solution.

Commenting on the completion of this project, Colonel Ahmed Ali al Maskary, Director of Communications at Royal Oman Police said: "This is an important step and comes as part of ROP efforts to enhance its connectivity to improve the services provided by ROP."

"The project will link 76 sites in different governorates with Royal Oman Police head office in Qurum through a virtual private network using Omantel's MPLS system which will ensure us an enhanced communication with different units within ROP, security of our information and availability of the network which is guaranteed through Service Level Agreement" Al Maskary concluded.

"This project will support the efforts made by ROP in enhancing the communication with different ROP branches all over the Sultanate as the MPLS system will not only provide better speeds but will ensure security and confidentiality of all data transmitted through this network," said Samy Ahmed al Ghassany, Chief Operating Officer at Omantel.

"Omantel's MPLS solution allows seamless integration of various applications on the same network and has the capacity to grow with the individual demand of the business. The new technology will provide total back up for all parties," Omantel's COO added.

"The MPLS technology is the very latest and most contemporary solution that can link multiple sites in a reliable and efficient manner. Our state of the art MPLS solution is already being used by many large companies and business groups across Oman to ensure they have reliable connectivity, back-up systems and peace of mind when conducting their business," Al Ghassany concluded.

The project is supported by a Service Level Agreement (SLA) that guarantees a 99.99 per cent standard quality throughout the year. Omantel monitors the MPLS traffic through its advanced Network Management Centre that works round-the-clock to monitor all sites and ensure remote failure repairs.
