New Board also elects Vice Chairmen and Executive Committee members through acclamation
Dubai - During their first meeting, the new Board Members of Dubai Chamber of Commerce and Industry, appointed under Decree No. (19) of 2015 issued recently by H.H. Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, UAE Vice-President and Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, elected the Chairman, and two vice chairmen, and Executive Committee members of the Chamberthrough acclamation on Sunday.
The meeting, which was chaired by Dr. Ahmed Saif Belhasa, elected H.E. Majid Saif Al Ghurair, Chairman of the Board, whilethe following were elected through acclamation including H.E. Majed Hamad R. Al Shamsi, 1st Vice-Chairman, H.E. Hisham Abdullah Al Shirawi,2ndVice-Chairman, H.E. Abdul JalilYousuf Darwish, Treasurer, and H.E.Helal Saeed Al Marri, Vice Treasurer, as well asH.E. Raja Easa Al Gurgand H.E.Yahiya Saeed bin Ahmed Lootah, as members of the Executive Committee.
Two new committees including the Permanent and Audit committees were also formed as the members elected Abdul Hamied Ahmad Seddiqi, Dr.Ahmed SaifBelhasa, Amna Kalfan Al Jallaf, Buti Saeed Mohammad Al Ghandi and Essa Abdullah Al Ghurair as members of the Permanent Committee while Ebrahim Ahmed Abdulnabi Al Abbas, Faisal Juma KalfanBelhoul, FaizaAlSayed M.Y. Al Hashemi, and Hani Rashid bin Rashid Al Yateem as members of the Audit committee.
The new board members expressed their gratitude to H.H. Sheikh Mohammed for their appointment and the trust shown in their abilities which they said will reinforce in them the zeal to serve the private sector and the emirate's business community whilestrengthening Dubai'sposition on the world's economic map.
The board members thanked H.E. Abdul Rahman Saif Al Ghurair, former Chairman of Dubai Chamber, for his efforts during the last eight years as chairman of the board of directors, in enhancing the competitiveness of Dubai's business community globally while contributing to the remarkable achievements of the Chamber over the years. They also thanked Khalid Juma Al Majed, the outgoing board member, for his services to the Chamber.
H.E. Majid Saif Al Ghurair is the CEO of Al Ghurair Group, Chairman of Drake & Scull International PJSC and a Board Member of National Cement Co. and NASDAQ Dubai. He is a Board Member of Dubai Economic Council, and has played a leading role in the formation of the Middle East Council of Shopping Centers (MECSC) and is currently its Chairman as well as Chairman of Dubai Shopping Malls Group (DSMG).
