Tuesday, May 10, 2011
“We are confident... the project will be completed by end 2013,” Jasem Ali Al Sayegh, Takreer’s general manager, said at an industry conference in the capital.
The project, upon its completion would increase Takreer’s refining capacity by 417,000 barrels per day and nearly double its production of transportation fuels.
The project will be developed in eight packages, including crude distillation and sulphur recovery facilities, a residue fluidized catalytic cracker, offsites and utilities, storage tanks, infrastructure work, marine works, and two separate packages for the site preparation works.
Agreements were signed with SK Engineering and Construction Company for the crude oil distillation and associated downstream units package; GS Engineering and Construction Corporation for the residue fluid catalytic cracking unit and associated refining units and marine facilities packages; Samsung Engineering Co. Ltd, for the offsite and utilities package; and Daewoo Engineering and Construction Co. Ltd for the tankage and associated interconnecting piping package.
Takreer is a unit of the Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (Adnoc).
