Dubai, United Arab Emirates:  Royal Philips (NYSE: PHG, AEX: PHIA) Philips announced today that it has introduced its latest technology in magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) at the American Mission Hospital in Bahrain.  The announcement was made during the department’s official opening.

The Ingenia 1.5T S, is a new MRI system, designed to drive ‘First time right’ imaging while also facilitate a faster workflow, with the overall aim of enhancing the patient’s experience during MRI examinations.

Guests during the event included representatives from Philips Healthcare, officials from Mohammed Fakhroo & Bros as well as the board members of The American Mission Hospital.

The in-bore solution offers patients a comforting, engaging visual distraction and provides the opportunity to personalize their experience and feel empowered. The patient selects a theme to fill the room with a colorful video image which is viewed while in-bore and is combined with soothing audio to enhance the experience and create an immersive experiences.  

The auto-voice coach gives instructions to the patients throughout the examination, while the scanner noise is reduced through ComforTone scan techniques.

Patients today, want a better MRI experience, as currently it can be a challenge for both the young and the old. Image quality is often affected due to patient motion, which makes it difficult for clinicians to get accurate results. Further, there are times, when a repeat examination is needed, which can disrupt an entire day’s schedule, affecting work output and patient satisfaction.
