The German University of Technology in Oman (GUtech) participates for the fourth time in the Ghedex Exhibition that was inaugurated today morning at the Oman International Exhibiton Center in Seeb.
H. E. Sheikh Nasser bin Hilal Al Maawali, Chairman of the State's Financial and Administrative Audit Institution visited the GUtech stand and was briefed by Professor Dr. Burkhard Rauhut, Rector of GUtech, about the range of study-programmes that GUtech is offering.
"We aim to play a key role in educating the next generation in the Gulf," said Professor Rauhut, Rector of GUtech and former Rector of GUtech's German parent-university, RWTH Aachen University. With four BSc programmes in Urban Planning and Archtectural Design, Applied Geosicences, Sustainable Tourism and Regional Development, Applied Information Technology and two BEng programmes in Process Engineering and Mechanical Engineering, GUtech offers international higher education right here in Muscat. In addition, GUtech will start this year with two part-time MSc courses in Integrated Urban Planning and in Petroleum Geoscience.
All GUtech programmes were designed by professors from RWTH Aachen University in Germany and are tailor-made for the job requirements in the Gulf. "The language of tuition at GUtech is English. All our current BSc programmes are internationally accredited and all GUtech professors have international experience and were carefully selected by professors from RWTH Aachen University," said Professor Dr. Burkhard Rauhut.
GUtech was founded in 2006 and is affiliated with one of the largest and most prestigious universities of technology in Europe, RWTH Aachen University in Germany. Students at GUtech are taught by highly qualified teaching staff, the students benefit from an international network of contacts and state of the art facilities. If summer schools and workshops abroad are a compulsory part of the study-programme, all GUtech study-trips are included in the tuition fees. GUtech is planning to introduce in the coming years additional programmes such as another Bachelor of Engineering programme in Environmental Engineering as well as an MBA programme.
