Royal Jordanian (RJ) will inaugurate on March 28, 2010, regular direct flights to Madinah Munawwarah, Saudi Arabia, with initial two weekly flights. President/CEO Hussein Dabbas described opening this route as an advantage to RJ passengers, noting that pilgrims normally wish to pass by Madinah Munawwarah and visit Prophet Mohammad tomb and religious places before heading to perform Hajj and Umrah rites. He indicated that the route will be easier for pilgrims instead of visiting Madinah Munawwarah via Jeddah airport or by land. He said the feasibility study carried out by RJ shows that the service is bound to succeed in serving Jordanian and transit passengers who wish to visit Saudi Arabia via Amman.

Royal Jordanian flight will depart from Amman at 23:00 Sundays and Wednesdays, and will arrive in Madinah Munawwarah at 00:45am. It will depart from Madinah Munawwarah Mondays and Thursdays at 1:45am and reach Amman at 3:30 am. Dabbas said the airline operates direct flights to 56 destinations in addition to other 750 destinations served by RJ partners in the oneworld airline alliance. Studies are being conducted to open new routes such as Kuala Lampur, Johannesburg, Tehran, Izmir, Luxor, Aswan and others.
