TEHRAN -- Iran would start Megane production after removing all executive and technical problems, an Industries and Mines Ministry official said here Saturday.
French carmaker Renault was to build its Megane saloon model in Iran from 2006.
The firm's joint venture with Iran's Industrial Development and Renovation Organization (IDRO) and two leading carmakers was to make about 15,000 Meganes a year.
The car is the second to be introduced by Renault to Iran following the Logan, a stripped-down version of the Clio Supermini.
Renault had announced that together with Iran Khodro and SAIPA, Iran's two biggest carmakers, it expected to up production of the Megane at Khodro's Tehran plant to some 50,000 units annually within a few years.
"Megane assembly line has not been yet run in Iran since it is still facing executive problems," Hassan Kaboli talking to MNA added. He reiterated production is only possible after solving all existing problems, adding "We had earlier faced the same problems with Megane."
