TBWA/Raad creative takes top prize in inaugural event

UAE - Deira City Centre took top honours at this year's Dubai Bus Design Awards.

Hosted by Mediahub Dubai in association with Gulf Marketing Review the awards aimed to push the creative boundaries of bus advertising and design.

The competition was open exclusively to Dubai Summer Surprises sponsors and challenged agencies to come up with a bus design that best linked their clients' brand to one of the ten DSS themes.

Fahad bin Sulaiman chief executive of Mediahub said: "Our aim was to create an even playing field for the region's top brands and design agencies to compete on a creative level.

"Each sponsor and agency was given the same brief, the same bus, the same timeframe - making it a competition based on pure creativity."

Deira City Centre's 'Take Me to the City', prepared by TBWA/Raad, showing schoolchildren clinging to the outside of the bus stole the show. Fortune Promoseven's adaptation of MasterCard's current campaign scooped second place.

Fido Dido took third for Impact BBDO's 7UP work. The design showed Fido driving alongside the bus with schoolchildren reaching out for cans of 7UP. Runners up were Dubai Duty Free and FP7 for their 'Flower Surprise'.
