BEIRUT - Lebanon's banks association said in a statement on Tuesday it would suspend a strike as of Wednesday and banks would resume normal operations.

The Association of Banks in Lebanon said the decision came “on the occasion of the beginning of the month of Ramadaan” and amid consultations with authorities to resolve outstanding disputes.

Banks have been on an intermittent strike for more than a month in response to what they say are judicial decisions draining their remaining foreign currency reserves amid a financial crisis left to fester by authorities for years.
