DOHA: Doha Festival City is to open its retail mall on September 29, 2016. Countdown clocks have already been installed throughout the development offices, reflecting the staff and management's commitment to deliver the ultimate shopping and entertainment destination to Qatar on that date, as scheduled.
Kareem Shamma, CEO of Doha Festival City, reiterating the development's commitment to opening the mall on schedule, said: "There is a heightened sense of excitement among the project's stakeholders as we begin our countdown to opening. Senior management, consultants, and contractors are all sharing in this effort to ensure that this wonderful development opens its doors, as promised, at the end of September 2016, to the public."
"The clocks are a reminder to all those involved to 'step up a gear' as we approach the final phases of the mall completion", he said in a said in a statement issued yesterday.
Ahead of the opening, the Company is inviting its valued partners, including committed retail tenants, to come to the project's site on January 12, 2016 and to see for themselves the extent of the progress made in readiness for the September opening.
"We would like our valued partners, particularly the retailer groups who have committed to us, to share the excitement and come on the final leg of the journey with us by preparing for the big day well in advance. We look forward to welcoming the public to the mall at the end of September 2016", said Shamma.
The construction on the 433,000 square metres (sqm) site began in October 2011, and the first phase of the project included the on-time delivery of the first and only IKEA store, the Swedish retail furniture giant, in Qatar, which has been successfully operating since March 2013.
Construction progress of phase 2, a huge retail mall with over 240,000 sqm of gross leasable area, is well under way, with the impressive structure now firmly part of the Shamal Road landscape.
The opening of the mall, along with its food court and 18-screen Vox cinemas, will be shortly followed by the opening of its unique and innovative entertainment offerings.
A year later, the team will deliver a five star hotel with a convention center, as a third phase.
Sharing their excitement and devoting their time and effort, Doha Festival City's stakeholders are eagerly anticipating the opening of the most awaited retial mall on September 29, 2016.
