Authority planned to organize foreign workforce
KUWAIT CITY, Aug 11
The Ministry of Social Affairs and Labor will continue the implementation of its policy to organize the foreign work force and to lessen, if not eliminate, the marginal workers by taking stricter procedures in issuing commercial visit visas, reports Al-Rai daily quoting Minister of Social Affairs and Labor Thikra Al-Rashidi. In a recent press statement, Al-Rashidi explained the door for foreign manpower will be opened only to expatriates with specializations required in the implementation of major projects, such as consultants and technicians.
Al-Rashidi also confirmed the establishment of the Public Authority for Manpower in the next few days, disclosing the authority will organize the foreign work force and execute the ministry's strategy in this regard.
In another development, Al-Rashidi said the ministry had solved the issue related to the submission of a medical report to prove that the foreign husbands of Kuwaiti women are no longer fit to work in order to benefit from the financial support provided by the ministry and the government.
She clarified the ministry stipulated a condition for Kuwaiti women married to non-Kuwaitis to provide a medical report showing their husbands have health problems, asserting the issue has been resolved through other clauses in the law. She said these clauses have made it possible for the Kuwaiti women married to non-Kuwaitis to receive financial support without proving the inability of their husbands to work for health reasons.
