Saudi investment firm Batic Investments and Logistics Company (BATIC) announced on Monday that has signed an agreement with China's Huawei to provide smart cities solutions in the Kingdom.

The company said in a stock exchange statement that the both companies would partner to operate smart cities platform and services in Saudi Arabia encompassing parking, transportation, energy efficiency, lighting, waste management and integrated security and safety.

The agreement also includes a "modern and smart operations centre" to support informed decision-making and tracking key performance indicators for smart cities, the statement said.

One of the first projects to be implemented under the agreement would be a multi-city smart car park project in the eastern region, according to the statement.

In September 2019, BATIC, through its Smart Cities Solutions Company, had signed two contracts worth 1.2 billion Saudi riyals ($320 million) to develop and operate smart car parks in Dammam, Dhahran and Al Khobar for a period of 25 years.
