Britain must not go on a "borrowing binge", finance minister Jeremy Hunt said on Wednesday, after data showed an unexpected slowdown in inflation last month.

"The one thing we must not do now is to go on any kind of borrowing binge, as advocated by others, because that would only mean ... that interest rates will stay higher for longer," Hunt told reporters. (Reporting by William James, writing by Muvija M; editing by Sarah Young)
