Passenger traffic at Aena's Spanish airports in February surpassed pre-pandemic levels for a second consecutive month, the company said on Monday.

At almost 17 million, the number of passengers in February was 2.2% higher than in the same month of 2019.

The busiest airport was Madrid's Adolfo Suarez Barajas, with more than 4 million passengers, 0.6% more than in February 2019.

Aena expects to recover pre-pandemic levels in 2023.

In comparison, London's Heathrow expects to carry 58 million-73 million passengers in 2023, or around 90% of its pre-pandemic levels at the upper end of the range. (Reporting by Matteo Allievi; editing by Jason Neely)
