The imposing display will use Sharp's next-generation 60-inch LCD monitors with 6.5mm bezel

Dubai, October 14, 2010: Sharp will be unveiling the world's largest video wall with 60 LCD panels, each of 60-inch diametre, with the world's slimmest bezel, delivering seamless images under the slogan 'Don't miss a thing' at Gitex Dubai.

The 360-inch video wall, made up of the new-generation PN-V601 professional LCD panels), will dominate Sharp's 180-square metre stand, giving visitors a peep into the next-generation video walls that are used for digital signage and large displays.

The video wall will project a realistic and undistorted images, as Sharp have reduced the size of the bezel (the space between two monitors) to a mere 6.5mm, ensuring that the total screen area is not broken up by large transitions.

"Sharp's pioneering advances in LCD technology will be demonstrated in this video wall that will dwarf all other displays in the past," said Fumio Yamaguchi, Managing Director, Sharp Middle East."We are pleased to unveil it at Gitex, the region's biggest IT fair. Gitex visitors will be able to see at first hand the difference between earlier video walls, and the record-breaking Sharp wall whose appeal is enhanced because of the slim bezels."

Similar video walls with the ultra-slum bezels were unveiled earlier this year in Japan and the United States, but the Gitex video wall will be the biggest, according to officials from Sharp Middle East.

"Our slogan says it all," commented Yamaguchi. "Because of the ultra-slim bezels, the viewer gets a near-perfect, fuller image, enhanced further by our advanced LCD technology incorporated in the PN-V601 professional panels. We anticipate wide applications in retail and outdoor for this type of video wall."

The PN-V601 professional LCD panels are made from 10th-generation motherglass panels measuring 2.88 x 3.13 metres and to convert them into LCDs for professional monitors. The efficiency of the production method allows Sharp to market the screens at an attractive price while maintaining consistently high standards of quality.

"Our PN-V601 represents a new benchmark for the slim bezel monitor market. With the new 60-inch screen size, a large-size video wall can be created with fewer monitors. This also means significant reductions in overall purchase, installation and power consumption costs, depending on the final wall size," said Yamaguchi.

The video wall at Sharp's stand at Gitex will display short films about Sharp's business and product range.
