Cairo – The Egyptian Customs Authority collected EGP 3.187 billion in taxes, customs duties, and other charges at Dekheila and Damietta ports during August.

The total value of taxes and customs duties collected for imported goods at Dekheila and Damietta ports amounted to EGP 469.649 million last month, the Ministry of Finance said in a statement on Tuesday.

Moreover, the value-added tax (VAT) and other charges imposed on the imported goods at the two ports reached EGP 2.478 billion.

The imported goods included strategic commodities and general cargo, including wheat, rice, sugar, legumes, maize, components of air conditioners, fridges, fans, fabrics, wood, yarn, animal feed, and motorcycle and car spare parts.

In addition, the two ports exported goods that include aluminium, food products, stainless steel, marble, and sand at a total value of EGP 9.873 billion. Charges collected for the exported goods reached EGP 23.117 million.
